Burial mound on Alfstad farm
Situated along Gudbrandsdalsleden
Burial mound from the Iron Age located at Alfstad Farm.
A round burial mound clearly marked in the terrain. Around the top there are five standing rocks forming a circle.
In the middle ages there was a church on Alfstad farm. An altar is still visible. In ancient times Alfstad was a place of execution, and the last execution took place in 1780's. One of the finest rune stones, Alfstad stone from about 1000 AD, was kept on the farm until 1913, when it was moved to Oldsaksamlingen. On the farm and the surrounding areas there are three graves from the Iron Age. Several Bronze Age and Stone Age findings have been made in the area. There has also been found a number of pieces of iron in a man's grave from the Viking Age.
