Church
Åre Old Church
Situated along St. Olavsleden
Romanesque stone church built in the 12th century. This old church has 150 seats and is open all year from 08:00 to 20:00.
The church's wooden St. Olav sculpture is probably from the 14th century and is possibly made in Trøndelag, Norway. It no longer has its original paint, and the crown is lost and replaced with a Karoliner hat. A war-damaged, local farmer was in 1719 given the task of replacing the saint's lost crown with a new one. The result was the triangular Karoliner hat. Perhaps it was a tribute to the late King Charles XII.
