At Mariendal you can see a bauta stone at the roadside, called Trollsteinen (the troll stone). The legend has it that "risen" (the evil giant) on Biri, the other side of Lake Mjøsa, was so agitated when Ringsaker church was built near his residence, that he threw a rock towards the church tower.
