Hjerkinn station

Hjerkinn Station is an old coaching house with traditions all the way back to the 13th century

The old coaching house was located on the pilgrims’ and royal road to Trondheim. Hjerkinn Station is the station with the highest altitude on the Dovre Line, at 1,017 meters above sea level. Hjerkinn Fjellstue is Norway’s oldest family-run business and welcomes visitors to the former coaching house and mountain farm at 1,000 meters above sea level. The Norwegian Wild Reindeer Centre North is located on Dovrefjell, and has a shared location with the Dovrefjell Pilgrim Centre.

The viewpoint pavilion on Tverrfjellet, designed by the architectural firm Snøhetta, has been named the building with the most magnificent view in the world. The summit of Snøhetta, at 2,286 meters above sea level, is a popular hiking destination that can be reached on a day trip. You can also go on a musk ox safari in Dovrefjell–Sunndalsfjella National Park.
