Hommelvik Church
Situated along St. Olavsleden, Romboleden
The Longship Church was built in 1886 and consecrated on May 25, 1887, and is located in the center of Hommelvik. It is built of wood and has room for 330 people.
In 1950, the church was extensively restored under the direction of architect John Tverdal. The interior was modernized and the church got, among other things, a new decorated gallery parapet, new pulpit, altarpiece and organ.
In 1977, the roof and walls were insulated. The interior ceiling was lowered and clad with wooden panels, the benches in the gallery were replaced with chairs. New chandeliers were also put in place and later a new mortuary and porch were renovated. Hommelvik church has beautiful acoustics and the church is often used as an arena by the rich song and music life in Hommelvik.
