Hopsjø Trading Post

Just across the strait from Dolm Church is Hopsjø Trading Post, with a history dating back to the 18th century. It may house Norway’s oldest preserved general store, where you can buy souvenirs, traditional sweets, and local art and crafts. The warehouse at the trading post has been converted into a restaurant focusing on locally inspired food and drinks. On the pier, there is also a collection from the height of the whaling era, including artifacts and photos from the whaling station at Hestnes.

The coastal heritage association Kystlaget Nattseilerne is based at Hopsjø. Nattseilerne cares for old wooden boats and helps preserve coastal culture.
