St. Olav and his men rested here

According to legend, Olav and his men rested here before they went through Skjervsura. They only had meat from two bulls, and this was supposed to feed 400 of Olav's men in addition to 100 farmers. Olaf asked his men to divide the meat equally and then made a mark of the cross over all the cauldrons. A while later, the cauldrons were full of food, without anyone knowing where the food came from.

Close to the cave Olavshellaren, there's a spring of fresh water. It’s said that Olav washed himself in this spring. Since then, the water has had a reputation for having healing qualities. If livestock in the valley got sick, they were taken to this spring to drink the healing water.
