Smedhusåsen (burial mound)

The large burial mound at Smedhusåsen is just one of nine burials in this area, but the other graves are so worn down that they are hard to spot.

To build a burial mound of this size takes a lot of time and manpower. The whole settlement most likely helped when a grave mound was needed. It is therefore likely that the person buried here was someone of a higher status. At the sign near the mound, you can read more about what kind of things people were buried with in the Iron Age.
