You will stay in a separate apartment on the first floor of the main building. Here you’ll sleep in beautiful rooms with comfortable beds and wake up to views of Lake Mjøsa. The flat has a cosy living room with books and board games, a dining room, two spacious bedrooms with double beds, a kitchen and a bathroom. The master bedroom also has a bath and washbasin in the room. There is Wi-Fi, but no TV.
The garden has several seating areas and excellent facilities for barbecuing. It is 800 metres to the public bathing area, and on the way you pass Sveinhaugen – the burial mound from the 7th century after which the farm is named. From there it is 500 metres to Ringsaker Church, built around 1130, with a magnificent altarpiece from the late Renaissance.
Ingeborg, who owns and runs the farm, is an art historian and has restored both the house and the garden to their 1850s appearance. Her work has earned her national awards and accolades. She’s always happy to help if you need anything or have any questions. Perhaps this is simply the perfect place to take a day’s rest.
If you wish to stock up on food for the rest of the route, the Obs supermarket at Rudshøgda is an option before Sveinhaug. You will also pass Prøysenhuset (link) on the way, and just before you reach Sveinhaug, you will pass the charming country café Fru G (link) (approx. 1.5 km before the farm). Here you can enjoy lunch, coffee and home-baked goods in beautiful, peaceful surroundings – a perfect place to recharge your batteries before the final stage. Please note that the café has limited opening hours (usually Thursday–Sunday), so it’s a good idea to check in advance.
