Artwork "Reiser og Ruiner"
The artwork is part of the project Tankeplass (meaning place of thought), see all the Tankeplass artworks here.
The artwork "Reiser og ruiner" is an art installation in wood and stone, consisting of three columns built from log knots from different eras in Gudbrandsdalen.
Each column rests on a stone foundation gathered from the beginning, middle and end of the Gudbrandsdalsleden: red granite from Eastern Norway, gneiss from Gudbrandsdalen valley and Rennebu granite from Trøndelag county.
The work is associated with the abandoned farm Støslia, and refers to the pilgrimage as a story about travelling from something – and to something else – journeys and ruins.
Through the use of local, traditional crafts and materials, the work honors both the region's history and the old skills that have shaped the landscape.
Located about halfway on the pilgrimage route between Oslo and Trondheim, and high in the landscape above Gudbrandsdalen, the work opens up both views and insights.
The artworkwas officially opened on August 31, 2025.
