Archaeological excavations have shown the Tingvollheimen in Tune has been a place of high activity during the Iron Age. Archaeologists have found remains of farms, stables and even a smithy. Today, only the graves are visible above the surface. Up to 50 burial mounds are hidden between the modern houses on both sides of the road. Artefacts found in the graves indicate that this place might have been both a chiefdom and an ancient market place. Information signs at the site will tell you more about the excavations.
