Trip planner help page

We have developed a completely new trip planner that you can now test. The new solution makes it easier to find out how far you should walk each day. For the time being, it is only available for the Gudbrandsdalsleden trail, but the 8 other Norwegian pilgrim trails will also be included in time.

This version of the trip planner is now in an open test version, and you may therefore experience errors or omissions. If you have suggestions for improvements, you are welcome to send us an email at post@pilegrimsleden.no.

How to use the trip planner

1. Go to the trip planner

2. Choose Pilgrims Path:
Choose the Gudbrandsdalsleden east or west as your starting point.

3. Start planning:
Choose a start and stop point, and we automatically calculate approx. length. Continue planning.

4. Add accommodation:
Click on "Add accommodation" to start planning day stages. Select the desired accommodation and click "Add overnight stay".

5. Recommended daily stages:
We recommend day stages of up to 20 km. The ring shows the distance in a direct line from the selected location, but since the trail is not a straight line the actual walking distance will be longer than 20 km.

6. Complete the planning:
Continue adding overnight stays until your stopping point. Select "to overview" to return.

7. Save the trip:
It will be available under "My trips".

For several of the pilgrim trails, there are paper maps and guidebooks that are good to have with you in your bag. See overview at the bottom of this article about Preparations and packing list. Please note that we cannot guarantee updated information in guidebooks, these may be out of date. Updated information can be found in the points on the digital map.

Questions

If you have questions about accommodation or experiences on the pilgrim paths, you can contact one of the regional centres. They have good local knowledge of the area you will be walking through, and can tell you about the conditions during this year's season.
