A varied walk with forests, lakes, towns and city.

Dag 1

On this last stage of Tunsbergleden you start in the city of Drammen by the Drammensfjord. The trail takes you north to Lier, and after a while you will pass through Huseby. St. Hallvard, who is the patron saint for both Drammen and Oslo, grew up and lived here. After Huseby you will pass through the town of Spikkestad and the village of Røyken, before entering the beautiful forest of Kjekstadmarka. You will walk through the forest all the way into Asker, with good opportunities for viewpoints at Blåfjell and Vardåsen.

Dag 2

Asker is the final large town along the trail before arriving in Oslo. In Asker you will find shops, cafés, bakeries, restaurants and more. On your way out of Asker you will pass Asker Museum, a lovely village museum that is well worth a visit! From here, the trail takes you through Bærum municipality with a combination of forests, fields and residential areas. You will pass two medieval churches on this stretch; Tanum Church and Haslum Church.

The last leg of Tunsbergleden goes through the city of Oslo, where you will pass some of the most important landmarks of the city, including the famous Vigelandsparken. In Minneparken in Gamlebyen (the old town), where you will find the milestone that marks the end of both Tunsbergleden and Brogleden, but also the beginning of Gudbrandsdalsleden. Pilgrim center Oslo is located in the large yellow building just behind the park - remember to stop by for a coffee and a chat, and to pick up Hallvardsbrevet if you have walked at least 100km in the direction of Oslo!

Recommended season

It is recommended to walk on Tunsbergleden between 1st March and 1st November. Outside of this period, there is limited daylight, and snow may cover the markings along the trail and make it difficult to walk. Additionally, not all accommodations along Tunsbergleden are open year-round.
